Does the ZLDC propose to criminalise marital rape?
The ACA Fact Checking Unit continues to fact-check public debate on the recently released, ZLDC review of the Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Act. The Zambia Reports has published a claim that the report proposes criminalisation of marital rape. A check finds this to be FALSE.
The ZLDC report acknowledges that many countries have criminalised marital rape as proposed for Zambia by stakeholders. However, it rather calls for advocacy against intimate partner sexual violence.
