The Alliance for Community Action (ACA) and Caritas Zambia with the support of the European Union are implementing the ASK project aimed at capacitating CSOs and citizens as actors for accountable public resource management (PRM). The project seeks to strengthen the capacity of CSOs’/CBOs to implement effective rights-based advocacy for public resource accountability in Zambia. In addition, the project aims to increase the ability of routine rights-based PRM accountability and improved service delivery by citizens. And finally, the project further seeks to increase understanding of duty bearers at a local level of PRM as a system of accountability to citizens.
ACA works to grow the routine and systematic demand for public resource accountability in Zambia, with the specific aim of instituting the demand in the public. As the only CSO in Zambia, whose sole purpose is the strengthening of public resource accountability, the ACA has gained recognition for its innovative and robust strategies and activities.
Caritas Zambia is a development, advocacy and relief agency under the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB,) that routinely engages state and non-state actors to advocate for policies that are sensitive to the marginalised. The organisation empowers citizens to make required community-led interventions against social injustice and promoting local development.
